Reinsurance Processor

Job Purpose

Performs maintenance and record keeping related to reinsured business. Assists in processing monthly premium billing statements and collecting claims. Serves as primary contact for assigned reinsurance companies.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitors and resolves daily cycle/error reports.
  • Assists in preparation of premium payments to reinsurers.
  • Researches non-standard issues to determine the correct reinsurance requirements and inputs the necessary reinsurance data into the reinsurance administrative system.
  • Works with reinsurers to research and resolve problems in premiums, claims, reports, and electronic files.
  • Tracks outstanding claims to ensure payment. Updates the claim log as the policy moves through the claim process.
  • Reconciles claims log versus administrative systems and ledger.
  • Processes monthly changes related to captive cession in reinsurance system.
  • Prepares cash application entries for collection of reinsured claims.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand reinsurance administration.
  • Knowledge of life insurance products is helpful.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong basic math skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 1+ years of office experience required.
