Position Summary:

The Payment Posting Specialist II performs basic payment posting processes with minimal supervision and handles some specialized payment situations, as assigned, under general supervision.


Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Accurately posts all assigned manual and electronic payments to patient accounts.
2. Resolves any edits and reports issues in a timely and accurate manner.
3. Works zero-dollar Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) as assigned.
4. Reconciles payments on a daily basis prior to the end of each shift.
5. Processes and posts credit card payments.
6. Works on special projects as assigned.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Knowledge and understanding of insurance benefits and medical terminology is a plus. Must be comfortable interacting with others in an office environment. Must have strong critical thinking skills. Ability to work independently without close supervision. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; excellent phone and computer skills.


Minimum Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Minimum Experience:

2 years of experience with revenue cycle processes. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.


Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.


Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
