The Position
The newly established Centre of Excellence (CoE) will operate the IFS Cloud ERP platform and an integrated landscape of complementary technologies, supporting the business in achievement of their strategies and enabling business change and transformation efforts. 
The IFS DevOps Engineer will be integral to the deployment, management, and optimization of the IFS ERP.  This role involves designing and implementing new system capabilities and applying and optimizing DevOps practices to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the platform.  As a subject matter expert within the CoE, the engineer will drive the integration of development and operations processes, automate workflows and support continuous improvement initiatives.
 
Key Accountabilities
DevOps Implementation & Automation:
  • Design and implement DevOps practices for the IFS ERP system, including continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for system deployments, configuration management, and monitoring
System development, Configuration & Management:
  • Maintain a prioritised backlog of platform, process and application changes
  • Conduct system development and configuration activity (Configuration, Reports, Integrations and Modifications) within controlled settings such as IFS Build Place and Use Place
  • Work with the Platform and Environment Manager to ensure the reliability, performance and security of system environments within agreed best practice
  • Oversee system provisioning, configuration, and integration with other tools and platforms
Business Process:
  • Develop a strong understanding of business process to ensure system configuration is optimally aligned
  • Identify opportunities to exploit product features that could enable process efficiencies
Monitoring & Performance Optimization:
  • Implement and manage monitoring solutions to track system performance, availability, and health
  • Analyze telemetry, performance metrics and logs to identify and resolve issues proactively
Collaboration & Support:
  • Assist in the design and preparation of technical specifications, project documentation, workflow analysis to meet system and project needs
  • Work closely with other development teams to support system development and deployment activities
  • Provide 3rd line technical support for system issues, including troubleshooting and resolution of complex problems
  • Work closely with other IT teams, business units, and external vendors to resolve issues and implement changes
  • Communicate effectively with users and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of system status and support activities
Evolution of the Centre of Excellence:
  • Contribute to the establishment of the CoE by defining and documenting DevOps best practices and standards
  • Support knowledge transfer and training initiatives to ensure smooth integration of DevOps practices within the CoE, including shift left opportunities to the CoE Application Support
Security & Compliance:
  • Implement and manage security measures in line with organizational policies to protect the IFS system and associated data
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations
Knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of the ERP applications and their architecture, with functional and technical expertise in at least one of the following IFS areas, and enthusiastic to broaden your understanding across other areas:  Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Projects, Human Capital Management, Asset and Service Management
  • Understanding of IFS Solutions Manager related functionality, profiles and permissions setup
  • Ability to perform workflow automations using IFS Events and Migration jobs, Custom Configurations, Lobbies and Reporting
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles, tools, and methodologies
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices, automation, and cloud computing
  • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and project delivery frameworks
Skills
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as PowerShell and PL/SQL
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform, MS Bicep, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong skills in system configuration management, version control, and deployment automation
  • Ability to analyze system performance and troubleshoot complex issues
Experience
  • 3 years experience with IFS 10 or IFS Cloud, 5 years+ total experience with enterprise -grade ERP (e.g. SAP, Oracle EBS)
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field preferred but not essential
