Primary Purpose
A Research Assistant position is available in Dr. Jianming Xie’s laboratory at the Department of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Western University of Health Sciences (Western U) in Pomona, CA. Our research is focused on engineering T cells and NK cells with novel chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) to target cancer and HIV. We use a multi-disciplinary approach, including molecular cloning, protein chemistry, cellular engineering, immunology, and mouse models.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols.
- Ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
- Passion for laboratory research.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, bioengineering, pharmaceutical sciences, immunology, chemistry, or other related fields.

Duties are routinely performed in a typical laboratory setting. While performing duties in this setting the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), and risk of electric shock.
The employee is regularly exposed to wet humid conditions (non-weather), moving mechanical parts, and high precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat (non-weather), and risk of radiation. The noise level in this setting may be loud due to the noise of ventilation system and hydraulic body hoist.
