Research Assistant

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, this individual will assist with research-related responsibilities in a project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), called One Ballroom. One Ballroom is a social epidemiological study of intersectional stigma and HIV among sexual and gender minoritized communities of color in the House and Ballroom Community (HBC) in the United States. The individual will assist with recruitment, mixed methods data collection, supporting the Community Advisory Board, and other duties as assigned. The incumbent is responsible for conducting research activities including recruiting and consenting participants; administering questionnaires and surveys; conducting focus groups or in-depth individual interviews; answering research participant questions; scheduling appointments; conducting participant follow-up and monitoring. Incumbent will collect clinical data in compliance with established study protocols, will maintain records and periodically prepare written progress reports, and may help develop or modify SOPs as needed under the direction of the PI. Incumbent will ensure study protocols are followed, appropriate documentation is kept, and accurate data is collected. Incumbent will provide additional support to PI’s NIH-funded research, as needed, including coordination with community partners for meetings, events, activities, and deliverables; creation of presentation materials; development of manuscripts and other written materials; and maintenance of records and documentation.

$24.77 - $29.56 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of research experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Bachelor’s Degree (or substantial experience) in a health-related field Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to relate easily and effectively with other members of the research group Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines Proficient writing skills to prepare/compose/review a variety of communication, primarily electronic. Knowledge of and/or experience with House and Ballroom Communities and culture. Public health experience with sexual and gender minoritized communities of color.
Preferred:
Previous research experience in sexual health, HIV/AIDS, substance use, mental health, social epidemiology.
Special Conditions Required:
This position is a limited position for one year with possibility of extension. Schedule will vary.
