The Role
The CIG (Content Integrity Group) Research Associate will be responsible for fact-checking editorial content for a leading, ASME-award-winning global media brand, including content for the print editions, web, and ancillary content. They will work closely with editors, writers, and other publication colleagues. In addition, they will consult with legal affairs editors to help vet stories for possible libel, defamation, and other legal concerns as they may arise. They will work on both global and local content, and will serve as the local authority to the brand on matters of research, fact-checking, and flagging areas of risk.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding of how to balance priorities and juggle responsibilities and a strong interest in long-form journalism. The Research Associate will work in a collaborative and innovative environment and may help guide the workflow process. The applicant should be comfortable working on a wide range of subjects, but should have a particular enthusiasm in the areas of men’s fashion, culture, lifestyle, adventure, and politics.
Organisationally, this position resides in the Content Integrity Group. The research associate will work closely with UK brand leadership on deadlines and priorities.

Experience fact-checking for print or web publications
Thorough understanding of journalism protocols and news-gathering procedures
Knowledge of legal standards and practices for publishing
Excels at working with a variety of personalities and is an effective communicator
Creates solutions and takes full ownership of the role
Well organized and detail-oriented
Capacity to manage pressure and tight deadlines
Proficiency in a second language a plus
Comfortable asking complex or sensitive questions
Experience with InDesign or InCopy
