Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., a leading mid-tier investment bank, is currently seeking an equity research associate to support our Biotechnology Equity Research franchise. The position is located in New York City.
The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial (i.e. self-starter), possess one or two years of experience in equity research or a related field with company modeling and exposure to the financial markets, have demonstrable interest in drug development, and a passion for life sciences investing. Proven analytical skills, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, the ability to multi-task, and excellent written communication skills are required. We prefer candidates with an undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, or biostatistics. An advanced degree (MS/PhD/MD, etc.) would be a plus but is not a requirement.
The research associate will work in conjunction with and support the senior research analyst on all aspects of developing the research product. Key responsibilities for this position at the start include: preparing company-specific and industry-wide research reports and presentations; collecting, analyzing and interpreting information from a range of data sources, including scientific literature, medical conferences, physician interviews and maintaining databases (company catalysts, public and acquisition comparables, etc.).

This salary range is specific to the City of New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making salary decisions including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 at the time of this posting. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
