Summary:

To meet the expanding needs of our drug development and toxicology programs, Seagen is seeking a motivated, detail-orientated, collaborative, organized, and flexible Research Associate II to support our efforts in developing complex cell systems (3D cultures and microphysiologic systems), in vivo imaging, and preclinical models. As part of the In Vivo Sciences & Technology (IVST) team the candidate will have opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies and have a significant role in supporting the development of in vitro and in vivo models. IVST goals are to develop preclinical models to better predict treatment efficacy and de-risk toxicologic outcomes in patients with cancer. The successful candidate will have a strong scientific background, thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment, and ability to work with a cross-functional team applying novel approaches in addressing challenges in cancer biology, toxicology, and immunology.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, maintain, and analyze 2D and 3D cell culture systems (microphysiologic systems, organoids, and primary cell cultures)
  • Apply state-of-art cellular and in vivo technologies to build better models that support cancer, immunology, and toxicology studies
  • Execute molecular and cell-based assays, including multicolor flow cytometry, immunofluorescent and live cell microscopy, cytotoxicity assays, and biochemistry-based assays such as ELISA and western blotting
  • Develop mouse tumor models and collect blood, tissue, and various measurements, including assisting with in vivo imaging
  • Independently collect data, document results, and present findings
  • Maintain rigorous records of experimental progress using electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Manage laboratory supply inventory, equipment preventative maintenance, and communicate with external service providers
  • Aid in execution and analysis of additional experiments as need arises within IVST and Nonclinical Sciences

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree in Cellular, Cancer, or Molecular Biology, Immunology, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience with cellular and molecular techniques, including cell culture, transfection, cloning, PCR and Western blot analysis
  • Familiarity with mouse tumor models, handling, injecting, blood collection, and tissue collection.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and analytical (Prism, FlowJo) software programs
  • Ability to design, perform and interpret experiments with some guidance
  • Detail-orientated person with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and a variety of disciplines
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Cell or Cancer Biology is preferred
  • Experience with primary cell cultures, organoids, and/or microphysiologic systems is a plus

The hiring pay range for this position is $72,000 to $94,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
