The SVP of Patient Advocacy will lead the development and execution of patient-centered advocacy strategies within our pharmaceutical advertising efforts. This role is pivotal in creating strong partnerships between our clients and patient communities, ensuring that the voice of the patient is at the heart of our campaigns. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of patient advocacy, pharmaceutical marketing, and a proven ability to engage and collaborate with patient groups, advocacy organizations, and stakeholders.
What You'll Do:- Lead the development of patient advocacy strategies across multiple therapeutic areas, aligning with client goals and industry regulations.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with patient advocacy groups, patient ambassadors, and nonprofit organizations.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FDA guidelines, when communicating with patient communities.
- Act as a thought leader and patient advocacy expert within the organization and externally at conferences, speaking engagements, and in client meetings.
- Drive strategic partnerships and initiatives that elevate the patient voice and enhance awareness and engagement in pharmaceutical communications.
- Monitor trends and developments in patient advocacy, healthcare policy, and pharmaceutical marketing to inform strategies.
- Oversee the management of advocacy programs, ensuring measurable impact and successful outcomes for both patients and clients.
- Understand products, competitors, market dynamics and changes likely to affect the category.
- Works directly with brand teams on development of brand goals/objectives/strategies.
- Drive business through strategic and creative recommendations.
- Facilitation and attendance at all client meetings.
- Facilitation of quarterly business review meetings.
- Manage and mentor junior account team members.
- Review jobs supporting new strategy or special tactics.
- Ensure annual planning is integrated with all agency entities.
- Manage client expectations and internal deliverables.
- Own and achieve forecast numbers and is responsible for fiscal planning, coverage of team billable hours
- Development/management of annual SOWs, monthly financials, tracking of monthly hours, and monthly client accruals.
- Proactively identify strategic opportunities and propose new ideas to existing clients.
- Understand products, competitors, market dynamics, and changes likely to affect the category.
Requirements:- 10 years of pharmaceutical agency experience
- 4+ years of supervisory experience and mentoring abilities
- Extensive experience in successfully executing product launches, including consumer creative strategy, full campaign development (art and copy)
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, drug development process, and regulatory environment (FDA, PhRMA guidelines).
- Working knowledge of health literacy principles; designing communications that support accessibility
- Experience in building, and maintaining patient support programs with and understanding of patient access issues and how to overcome them
- Experience in designing behavior-based adherence campaigns
- Self-reliant, capable of operating independently
- Outstanding communication skills: oral, written and interpersonal
- Experience working with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and patient organizations.
- Ability to navigate complex environments and work with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Strong experience managing the financial aspects of a book of business including forecasting revenue, costs, profit margins, invoicing, reporting your financials
- Experience hiring, managing, and developing a team who are responsible for the day-to-day execution of client programs
