Revolution Space is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team in this full-time, permanent position located at our headquarters in Boston (Charlestown). The primary focus of the role is to create and maintain financial and accounting processes that enable the executive team to make rapid, well-informed decisions to drive achievement of the financial goals of the company. Working closely with our Director of Finance and Operations, key tasks include financial and managerial accounting, financial reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities:
Day-to-day
· All aspects of accounting operations including transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, bank reconciliation and financial reporting
· Coordinate across departments to ensure expenses are accounted for properly both systemically and financially
· Ensure budgets and forecasts are aligned with accounting treatment of transactions
· Coordinate with external accounting organizations
· Identify and implement efficiencies through rigorous analytics and monitoring of KPIs
· Provide regular reporting and input to management team
· Ad hoc analysis and special finance and administrative projects as needed
Monthly
· As part of the monthly accounting close, prepare journal entries, analyze results and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure financial statements are complete, accurate and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
· Collaborate with operational departments to gather all relevant financial data and ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting
· Perform monthly expense trend and budget vs. actual analyses for review with management and key personnel, including variance explanations and highlighting issues and recommendations
· Provide financial and compliance reporting to key external stakeholders such as investors and strategic partners as needed
· Identify and implement improvements in month-end close process
· Coordinate tax schedules, returns and information
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
· Minimum 4+ years accounting experience
· CPA preferred
· Experience in hardware-oriented technology companies with emphasis on cost accounting
· Experience in rapidly growing start-up environments preferred
· Aerospace industry background or advanced technology systems experience preferred
· Understanding of DCAA Indirect Rate & Cost Structures, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and · Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) applicability a plus
· Contract management and administration experience a plus
· Intermediate to advanced experience with Quickbooks and MS Excel
· Strong attention to detail
· Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic
