The Department of Computer Science at Rice University invites applications for a range of faculty positions starting in Fall 2025.Tenured and tenure-track positions (all ranks)The Department of Computer Science at Rice University invites applications for tenured and tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks in the following two focus areas:• Applied algorithms: Specific sub-areas include (but are not limited to) randomized algorithms, approximation algorithms, sublinear algorithms, graph algorithms and distributed algorithms. We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate collaborations with other areas of computer science such as computer networks and systems, computational biology, AI/ML, data science, privacy and security and robotics as well as cross-disciplinary collaborations with mathematics, statistics, computational medicine, science and beyond.• Computer systems and engineering: The Department seeks outstanding candidates with research interests in engineering innovations that could transform the future of computing systems. Examples include secure and privacy-preserving systems, trustworthy systems, disaggregated computing, cloud computing, systems for AI, embedded systems, in-memory computing, analog computing systems, emerging and novel computing systems, next-generation computing systems, algorithms for next-generation computing systems, IoT, energy-efficient computing/sensing systems, operating systems and compilers for non-traditional computing systems, next-generation networking systems, and next-generation communication systems.These positions require conducting high-quality research as well as teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Computer Science. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.The positions are expected to start in July 2025.
