Risk Management Associate, National Office of Risk Management Summary Overview:
The purpose of the Risk Management Associate is to assist in the development, support and maintenance of the National Office of Risk Management’s (NORM) enterprise insurance department and corporate policy governance. Utilize risk management tools and processes at the direction and support from, and in support of, the Risk Manager and Risk Director. RSM’s enterprise insurance department is responsible for supporting high-quality, impactful business insurance programs, while policy governance (PG) involves supporting the Policy Governance Council (PGC) and utilizing established PG processes to ensure policies are approved, relevant and address changing business needs as well as the broader regulatory environment. The role requires responding to the firm’s leadership and the broader RSM personnel related to their various insurance and policy governance inquiries and needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Act as an integral member of the firm’s enterprise insurance department responding to internal RSM customer / personnel requests and other insurance related activities including requests for certificates of insurance (as coordinated through the firm’s insurance brokers), review and provide input regarding client or vendor insurance requirements in contracts / office leases / claims support and other insurance-related requests.
  • Assisting on insurance program renewals by providing exposure information through collaboration with National Finance and other headquarter functions to complete insurance applications and other various schedules of data and exposure information. Provide support for insurance renewal strategy meetings and related follow up and planning projects.
  • Support PGC by utilizing the established policy governance processes including: maintenance of firm wide policy library, policy documentation protocols, continuous improvement of technology development and delivering training to platform users. In time, providing thoughtful input related to drafting and reviewing policies.
  • Involvement in day-to-day maintenance and improvements related to firm SharePoint and ServiceNow platforms.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, and continuous improvements related to insurance and policy governance workflows.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree; Concentration in insurance / risk management / accounting / economics / finance and or an applicable combination of academic and relevant experience preferred
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Willingness to learn new software applications
  • Ability to identify patterns of basic risk and liability, to resolve routine issues and escalate when necessary
  • Strong customer focus: Acts to make things better by making deliberate attempts to add value
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member
  • Effective organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to operate consistently in a manner that supports the “One Firm” culture and values and the 5 Cs (Curious, Caring, Collaborate, Critical Thinker, and Courageous)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong business acumen; understanding of professional services industry and partnership model
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow or similar ticketing software platform
