Founder in Residence - Advanced Manufacturing

Roadrunner Venture Studios turns science into industry-defining companies as quickly as possible. We start these companies alongside amazing founders in energy, climate, manufacturing, and computing.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Founder in Residence (FIR) with expertise in Advanced Manufacturing, namely industrial tools, robotics, digital twins, advanced materials and or the circular economy to join our team and build a new company.  At Roadrunner Venture Studios, our Founders in Residence are full-time, paid, 6-month residencies focused on company building.

We expect each FIR to pitch a viable company concept to Roadrunner within the first six months of the residency. This role is full-time and designed for visionary entrepreneurs with a proven track record of launching successful startups.

Founders can be located anywhere, but our center of gravity is New Mexico. We support each founder to start a venture-backable company within six months. 

• $120k annualized salary
• Health benefits
• Access to our team, advisors, experts, and pipeline of companies, technologies, and partners.
• Up to $100k in R&D funding, sponsored research, or testing. Most founders use this funding to build the first prototype. This funding is included in the incubation services.

• Incorporation, accounting, and tax filing. We handle the paperwork.
• Non-dilutive funding and grant writing. On average, we close $250k for each company.
• Recruiting. In-house support for finding co-founders and hiring early employees.
• First customers. Market fit and first revenue, as quickly as possible.

• 25% ownership (common equity) for incubation and acceleration toward first product and first customer.
• A first look at what you’re building and an opportunity to write a pre-seed investment check ($250k - $1M)

• A strong technical background with experience in Advanced Manufacturing, namely industrial tools, robotics, digital twins, advanced materials and or the circular economy
• A deep understanding of the commercialization process for complex technologies, including intellectual property strategy, regulatory considerations, and market entry challenges.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, for both conceptual and analytical problems.
• Values-based, collaborative working style with demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of ethics.
• Grit and unwillingness to take no for an answer, with the desire to make change happen in the world.
