Royalty Accountant

Overview:


HarperCollins Publishers is currently seeking an Accountant to work in our Royalty Department. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your accounting experience in a publishing environment!

Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of accounting tasks including account analyses.
  • Examines documents including system generated reports to ensure the accuracy of royalty payment computations and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Ensures that transactions are properly supported, are pertinent to policies and procedures, and are in accord with acceptable accounting standards.
  • Uses sound professional judgment and proper accounting procedures in all projects as well as the implementation of necessary controls.
  • Takes responsibility for any special projects related to royalty.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field is required
  • Three or more years' prior accounting experience; prior royalty experience a plus
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite, with proficiency in Excel (proficiency with vlookups and pivot tables required) and Access
  • Ability to learn new software and implement changes in accounting system
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify variances or unusual trends that require further investigation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to coordinate with colleagues on all levels
  • Organized with excellent time management skills
  • Detail and deadline-oriented
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to prepare reports in an accurate and concise manner
