We address a range of public health problems to reduce disparities, lower disease burdens, and build locally owned sustainable health programs.Project DescriptionThe purpose of the Integrated Health System Strengthening (IHSS) program is to acceleratecountries’ Health System Strengthening (HSS) efforts and achieve sustainable, equitable, andresilient health systems through locally-led, evidence-driven, and context-specific approachesto HSS. The primary goals are to advance primary health care (PHC), accelerate progresstoward universal health coverage (UHC), and improve health outcomes. Investments in HSShelp USAID reach its priority global health goals of preventing child and maternal deaths,controlling the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and combating infectious disease, which directlycontributes to strengthening global health security. A strengthened and accessible healthsystem is necessary to yield high-quality health services, which are essential for achievingsustainable improvements in health, promoting economic growth, and overall democraticdevelopment.Position DescriptionThe Technical Director will have overall responsibility for the technical direction of the project. They will possess both experience in integrated HSS programs operating at country and headquarters levels and demonstrated technical abilities in implementation and technical leadership of integrated HSS across different health system contexts. They will provide strategic direction and technical oversight for the project and be able to proactively engage a broad range of technical experts and context-specific partners as needed to advance integrated HSS programming globally.Responsibilities• Develop and lead the implementation of innovative technical solutions to strengthen health systems at the country level.• Oversee the technical quality of project deliverables, ensuring they meet or exceed industry standards.• Provide expert technical guidance on health system strengthening (HSS) strategies, including health governance, finance, human resources, and policy advocacy.• Coordinate and supervise the technical work of project staff and consultants, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.• Monitor and evaluate the impact of HSS interventions, using data-driven approaches to inform project adjustments and improvements.• Facilitate capacity-building initiatives for local health authorities and stakeholders to enhance their technical capabilities in HSS.Qualifications• An advanced degree in public health, international development, or a related field, with at least twelve (12) years’ relevant experience in global public health and development, including demonstrated success in senior level technically relevant positions with large and complex projects that have a focus on applied HSS.• At least five (5) years’ HSS activity design and implementation experience within and across LMIC contexts.
