About the Role
Rula’s mission is to make mental healthcare work for everyone. We are the stewards of our patient’s and provider’s data and we operate in a HIPAA compliant environment. This role will lead Rula’s Security and IT organizations to ensure that we are building in a secure way, using data in the business in a compliant way, and ensuring our physical assets are configured to protect Rula and its data.
This role is an opportunity to join a small and growing company to lead a mature IT organization while simultaneously maturing our security function. You will be building out a security team, working cross-functionally across the company to define the strategy and champion our security posture. You will lead efforts to assess and improve security practices, secure engineer practices and tools and asset management. This is not a pure leadership role at our current size and we will look to leverage your background in security engineering or security operations to directly support your team’s outputs.
You will have a leadership voice across the company in matters related to software and cyber security and partner closely with engineering to extend best practices in secure coding and compliance and work cross-functionally across the company to champion security and compliance efforts.
Required Qualifications
15+ years in software engineering, 10+ in security roles as a Security Engineer, Security Analyst, Manager of Security team(s), etc…
Prior experience managing a security team (could be a subset of a larger security org)
Prior experience managing managers
Experience with cyber security in a SaaS environment with protected data
Experience leading and managing ongoing compliance initiatives (e.g. SOC2, HIPAA)

Prior experience with using pen testing and other tools to validate security effectiveness
Prior experience working in a healthcare or fintech-compliant environment
Prior experience leading response teams for security incidents, Business Continuity, or Disaster Recovery efforts
Prior experience managing an IT organization
