The Role
As our Medical Director for the contracted, multi-state psychiatry model at Rula, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission of making mental health care accessible and effective for everyone. You will report to the CMO, yet at this leadership level function highly independently. You will be responsible for owning the development and progress of quality initiatives and programs alongside Business, Legal and Clinical Operational leadership to sustainably grow psychiatry services in all fifty states. You will lead the development and implementation of the key processes and systems that define clinical quality – provider quality management, measurement informed care, patient safety. Your primary directive will be ensuring onboarding, monitoring, education, and remediation of the 1099 psychiatry provider group including MD, DO and NP licensure with specialty psychiatry training. Additionally, you will assist with cross-coverage for CMO duties and when necessary for leadership in the Rula psychiatry group as a whole.

Key Responsibilities
Specific to this role:
Work with clinical leadership to define, develop and oversee quality initiatives and programs within a 1099 multi-state group.
In collaboration with clinical and operational leadership, design and implement tools and processes to ensure provider quality on a population and individual level including the use of measurement informed care (MIC).
Specifically, you will work in close collaboration with the Head of Clinical Quality to dovetail 1099 psychiatry quality monitoring into the system that identifies and monitors, educates and remediates all 1099 providers. You will ensure these policies and processes are defensible, foundational and scalable to a large multi-state contracted psychiatry group. You will use MIC and professional guidelines and benchmarks to inform these policies and procedures.
Partnership with Provider Strategy & Operations on growth plans, process and execution, as well as offer design and assist with implementation.
Partnership with Compliance & Clinical Operations to understand evolving regulatory landscapes and if/how we change our care delivery to respond.
Provide input to Product and Engineering on requirements for making our contracted/1099 model successful for providers and patients.
When required, you shall assist with cross-coverage for CMO duties at executive level as well as any critical functions of managing the 1099 psychiatry group.
As part of reporting to CMO and executive leadership you will maintain weekly 1:1 with CMO highlighting wins and challenges as well as partner with operations to have regularly, agreed on meetings with identified stakeholders (eg OKRS and weekly report outs).

Required Knowledge and Skills
BC/BE MD or DO in General Adult Psychiatry. Board certification in Child and Adolescent psychiatry is preferred.
The candidate must have an active license in good standing with preference for compact license and licensure in NJ, FL and CA.
He or she must have a minimum of 5 years of direct clinical practice post-graduate training.
He or she will be required to have a minimum of 5 years in clinical leadership that includes overseeing licensed psychiatric clinicians including both ANPs and MD/DOs. Experience in leading and supervising in a remote telehealth practice is preferred.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, leading organizational efforts.
Proven ability to distill complex ideas into clear recommendations and actions.
Operations experience, particularly in developing repeatable processes and optimizing workflows for core quality activities like coaching and peer review.
Cross-functional leadership skills, including problem statement development, project scoping, and defining ownership, timelines, and action plans.
A high level of accountability and commitment to driving projects to completion.
Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset, exploring tools and technology to simplify workflows, reduce costs, and enhance the overall experience.
