About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Operations Lead, the Verification of Benefits (VOB) / Insurance Manager will be a crucial part of the Financial Operations team so that Rula can verify patient benefits timely and accurately.
In this role, you will be responsible for the team that manually verifies benefits and serve as the subject matter expert on Rula’s insurance participation. As we contract with new payers and add new plans, you will help everyone understand participation, develop new VOB processes, and deliver access to patients. Insurance verification is a critical front-end operation for Rula’s revenue cycle, and this candidate will play a pivotal role in improving the accuracy and efficiency of this function, which ultimately impacts everyone at Rula: our patients, payers, providers, and internal teams.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience working in health insurance/payer (commercial, private, government/public), reimbursement, or revenue cycle environment
Experience building processes and utilizing CRM tools, EHRs, and payer portals (e.g. Availity)
Expertise applying structure, prioritization, and effective communication in solving complex problems
Familiarity working in medical billing
Experience managing offshore and/or nearshore teams

Previous experience in a startup environment
Technical savviness and fluency with tools such as Google Suite, Zendesk, or similar platforms
Expertise with quality assurance
Understanding of Medicaid/Medicare/Medigap, etc.
