Russell Tobin & Associates is currently seeking a Technical Designer (Sportswear) to work for our client in the retail industry. Apply now for consideration! Contract: W2, 6-month contract (Jun 17, 2024 - Dec 27, 2024). Extension Possible... Location: Manhattan, NY 10038 (in-office 4 days a week, potentially 5 during busy times) Pay Range: $46.45/hour Brief Summary: Individual contributor position responsible for executing the technical design process from development to final fit. The role involves analyzing and evaluating garments to develop the correct fit specifications, ensuring products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit quality, standards, manufacturer capabilities, and cost specifications. Responsibilities: • Execute the technical design process from development to final fit. • Analyze and evaluate garments to develop correct fit specifications. • Ensure products are developed according to established fit quality, standards, manufacturer capabilities, and cost specifications. • Develop technical specifications and communicate fit to vendors/factories for approvals and corrections. • Make appropriate adjustments with factories to ensure the integrity of design-approved prototypes while monitoring quality and targeted price. • Collaborate with the Technical Services Manager and other team members. • Work on a range of products including sport bras (both structured and unstructured), pants (both leggings and pants), tops, jackets, sweaters, skirts, and dresses. • Use product development technical specification programs (e.g., Centric). Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or equivalent experience. • 7-10 years of technical experience in garment fit and construction, specifically women’s sport apparel, with a strong focus on sports bras/structured bras, pad development, pad correction, and related compression fitting knowledge. • Extensive knowledge of pattern making, construction, fit, and grading. • Experience with a range of products including knit and woven fabrics, fitted and loose styles. • Familiarity with factory environments, manufacturing techniques, and machinery. • Experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to meet short deadlines.
