Safety Associate

As a Safety Associate, you will support and administer policies and programs to ensure company-wide compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other safety health requirements and to raise employee and manager awareness of risks and to reduce, avoid, and protect employees from hazards in the workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigate accidents and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections on site as well as divisional jobsites to assess employee compliance with safety regulations
  • Be the advocate for employee’s safety and conduit between them and upper management
  • Prepare reports on safety activities, including accident investigations, audits and inspections
  • Recommend improvements to safety programs based on findings from investigations, audits and inspections
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations
  • Conduct applicable employee safety training
  • Maintain Safety training records, medical records and other miscellaneous records
  • Participates in EHS Board meetings
  • Be a leader on safety and safety guidelines and be able to provide guidance to employees
  • Research new safety solutions and help implement
  • Stay up to date on local and federal regulations
  • Completes other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility
This role is not a supervisory role.

Work Environment

This job operates in a hybrid of a professional office environment as well as traveling to job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as driving company vehicles to and from job sites.

Physical Demands

This role is a hybrid of sedentary office work which includes a fair amount of computer and other office work as well as driving company vehicles to and from job sites. In addition, this highly visible role requires walking the Cranston location as well as other locations as needed.

Position type and Expected Hours of Work

This role will primarily be 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM but occasionally will require a non-routine schedule.

Travel

This role requires travel to and from job sites a few times a month as well as attending the bi-annual Captive insurance meetings.

  • High school diploma or equivalency (GED)
  • 3-5 years of industry experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience training others
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft applications specifically Teams, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
  • Willingness to occasionally work a non-routine schedule
