Position Overview:
The Safety Coordinator is ultimately responsible for having an effective workplace health and safety program and culture in place. This position directs the resources and activities of the organization to support these programs by providing advice and guidance to company management, senior management, and staff. This position has significant influence on the company's overall performance in the areas of corporate health and safety. The primary challenge is to maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness throughout Wurth Industrial US to create a culture that prioritizes effective safety practices and balances overall associated costs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBITLIES include the following and all other duties assigned:
- Collaborate with leadership to create and maintain a culture reflective of a commitment to an injury-free workplace.
- Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Advises management on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
- Lead the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
- Creates and conducts standardized safety related training, and evaluates current training.
- Maintains and monitors safety files and records.
- Performs safety inspections and makes recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
- Stay current in emerging technical and professional aspects of the position.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of safety related experience or commensurate combination of education and experience.
- Ability to drive change in a positive manner.
- Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues.
- Experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements preferred.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Results oriented, focused on continuous improvement. Ability to drive change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation and persuasive skills.
- Ability to establish credibility, respect and trust from staff and external business partners.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Working knowledge of other Microsoft Suite of products. Understanding of SAP is desirable.
- Able to reach and interpret documents such as training instructions, shipping tickets, procedure manuals, etc.
- Able to work with mathematical concepts such as graphs, statistics, percentages, and ratios.
- Strategic thinker; uses creative and innovative problem solving in many types of diverse situations.
- Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning ability.
- Ability to travel to other branches as needed (10%).
