The Editorial Intern position provides an introduction and learning opportunity for students interested in a career in Publishing. An intern would provide clerical, post-publication, and publishing support to the Corwin STEM and School Improvement teams. This position will focus on book transmittals, permissions, and author care, but will also include a variety of tasks that touch on many aspects of our production process, including manuscript review and formatting. Training will be provided for all the processes listed and there is no prior publishing experience required.This internship is paid, part time (15-20 hours per week during normal office hours, PST time zone). Candidates must be actively enrolled in college, undergraduate or graduate work. This position is for the Fall and Winter of 2024 with the potential to continue for further terms. This is a remote position that will require you to have an internet connection set up. A laptop will be provided.• Please include a cover letter sharing why you'd like to work for Corwin, a publishing company that provides professional learning resources for educators.The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:• Managing peer review projects and compiling reviewer feedback, as directed.• Metadata entry and management of team projects in our in-house book database system, SMART.• In collaboration with the Content Development Manager, assist with transmittal related tasks, including the tagging of manuscripts, drafting permission logs, and redrawing figures or researching stock photos replacements.• Creating and managing QR Codes for select books.• Creating and maintaining companion websites for select books.• In collaboration with the Content Development Manager, review sample pages, page proofs, and book covers, providing feedback on any errors or inconsistencies, as needed.• Drafting and/or sending legal documents such as author agreements, contributor agreements, permission forms, and tax forms, as needed.• Assisting with ad hoc market research projects and data cleanup projects, as needed.• Assisting with book orders and sending material to authors, as needed.Qualifications & EducationAny combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:• Must be a current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.• Detail oriented and able to see a project through from beginning to end• Professional, with excellent verbal and written communication skills• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products• Able to multitask while maintaining attention to detailIf you have a disability and you need any support during the application process, please contact Lara.Weeks@sagepub.com.
