Linux Systems Administrator

Job DutiesAs a Linux Systems Administrator, your responsibilities will include:• Gathering customer requirements and performing new server builds per operational procedures.• Handling server decommissions in compliance with operational procedures.• Providing day-to-day operational maintenance, customer support, and ensuring program compliance.• Executing yum/dnf installations and updates of Red Hat packages.• Remediating IAVM and ACAS vulnerability reports to ensure system security.• Auditing DISA STIG checklists and utilizing automated SCAP scans for compliance.• Running Ansible automation scripts to audit and remediate security and compliance issues.• Defining technical milestones within Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).• Communicating with customers and implementing solutions for operational compliance.• Analyzing and suggesting system performance improvements.• Modifying and managing storage allocation, including NFS.• Troubleshooting and improving functionality of tools like SELinux, AIDE, fapolicyd, firewalls, Red Hat Identity Management (RHIdM), Red Hat Satellite, and Trellix.• Conducting root cause analysis and presenting findings to customers.• Assisting with migration of services to newer servers with the latest RHEL OS.• Participating in an on-call rotation for supporting outages and occasional after-hours maintenance.Required QualificationsEducation and Experience:• BS degree with 9 years of related experience or 4 years of IT experience in lieu of a degree.• In-depth knowledge of RHEL operating system.• Strong troubleshooting skills.• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.• Familiarity with VMware virtualization and Ansible concepts.• Understanding of storage concepts, especially NFS.• Familiarity with DISA STIG requirements.Certifications:• CompTIA Security+ CE (or other IAT-II equivalent, as per 8750 requirements).• Must possess or be able to obtain a Linux-related certification (e.g., CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator, or similar) within 6 months of starting.Security Clearance:• Active Secret security clearance required.CompensationThe target salary range for this role is $80,001 - $120,000, based on experience and other factors.Covid Policy:SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters but customers’ site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at their locations.About SAICSAIC is a leading technology integrator providing services in engineering, IT, and operations.
