The School of Business is one of the largest business schools in Western Canada. Our faculty and staff are passionate about student success, in an environment that values academic excellence, teamwork, collaboration and driving innovation. We deliver programming to more than 3,000 students in credit programs annually. Our degrees, diplomas, certificates, and courses are aligned to industry and designed to meet the needs of today’s employers. Programming areas include accounting, financial services, management, supply chain, marketing, administrative, legal, and more.


We are currently recruiting contract instructors to facilitate part-time (evenings/weekends/online) Business courses. Delivery may occur on SAIT’s main campus in Calgary or via remote delivery using synchronous weekly virtual classes and/or asynchronous online activities. Sections assigned may include any/all of the following courses:

Reporting to the Academic Chair, you will be a self-starter, have a passion for facilitating applied learning for others and for lifelong learning. You will professionally facilitate the learning process of the students and support students in achieving established learning outcomes to the maximum of their potential.  You will use all available resources, methods, techniques, and strategies to ensure student success.  You are expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a student-centered learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported, and innovative in nature. You must demonstrate excellence in your communication and organizational skills and be able to function in a collaborative team environment.


The Role
  • Facilitate courses, lesson plans, lectures, and learning activities.
  • Prep, deliver, and mark all assessments, including examinations.
  • Delivery and facilitation of course on-campus or through remote delivery tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom, Brightspace) may be required.
  • Evaluate student progress and facilitate student achievement, including responding to emailed inquiries within two business days.
  • Create an open and inclusive learning environment and show personal interest in student success.
  • Collaborate with faculty colleagues teaching the same course to support consistency across sections.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners and potential learners.
  • Participate in orientation and training activities as assigned.
  • Promote and support SAIT and School of Business strategies.
  • Adhere to SAIT’s policies and procedures.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business or education. (Master’s is preferred.)
  • 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Teaching, training, and/or mentoring experience are considered an asset.
  • Candidates with experience teaching one or more of the courses listed in the job overview may be given preference.

  • Key skills include:
  • Ability to communicate with large groups verbally effectively and in writing (public speaking competence).
  • Positive and respectful attitude.
  • Ability to work autonomously to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate computing skills in Microsoft office applications.
