This is a new role at SAIT, reporting to Manager of Total Rewards. The Wellbeing Specialist will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive wellbeing strategy for the institution. The Specialist will design, develop, and manage initiatives that improve the overall wellbeing of our employees, encompassing not just mental and physical health but also financial wellbeing, career development, and community engagement
The successful candidate will have a strong background in health promotion, employee wellness programs, and organizational behavior, and will be adept at creating strategies that support a holistic approach to employee wellbeing.
The Role- Strategy Development & Program Management
- Develop and implement a comprehensive wellbeing strategy aligned with SAIT’s goals and culture.
- Create initiatives focused on various aspects of wellbeing, including physical, mental, financial, career and community wellbeing.
- Design and manage wellbeing programs and initiatives that address the diverse needs of employees at different life stages.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of wellbeing programs through surveys, feedback, and data analysis; adjust programs based on findings.
- Provide support during crises or emergencies, offering resources and guidance to employees in need.
- Coordinate with internal and external resources to manage critical incidents.
- Ensure all wellbeing programs comply with relevant laws, regulations, and SAIT policies.
- Prepare reports and presentations on wellbeing metrics and program outcomes for senior management
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Promote a culture of wellness champions within SAIT.
- Collaborate with HR, management, student wellness, health & safety, and other stakeholders to ensure wellbeing initiatives are effectively integrated.
- Work closely with the Total Rewards Team to align wellbeing programs with compensation and benefits strategies, and financial wellness initiatives.
- Engage with community partners and external resources to enhance the scope of wellbeing programs.
- Provide guidance and support to the Ability Management Advisor and other departments at SAIT.
- Education & Communication
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars on various wellbeing topics, including financial literacy, career development, and community engagement
- Train leaders to understand and identify a broad spectrum of wellbeing issues within their teams.
- Develop and distribute comprehensive wellbeing communication materials, including newsletters, posters, and digital content.
- Advocate for workplace practices and policies that support holistic employee health and wellbeing, including community involvement and financial stability.
Qualifications & Experience - Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Health Promotion, Organizational Behavior, Public Health, or a related field.
- Preference for candidates with certifications such as Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR), or Certified Health and Wellness Coach (CHWC)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee wellness, health promotion, occupational health, human resources, organizational development, or a related field.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing holistic wellbeing programs that address physical, mental, financial, and career wellbeing.
- Experience in coordinating initiatives that foster community engagement and support a diverse workforce.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and use data to assess program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including HR, benefits, health and safety, and external vendors.
- Empathetic and approachable with excellent interpersonal skills to support a diverse employee population.
- Experience in delivering training, workshops, or educational programs related to wellbeing, financial literacy, or career development.
- Experience with program design and implementation, including developing initiatives that target diverse aspects of employee wellbeing.
- Familiarity with financial wellbeing concepts, such as financial planning, literacy, and resources that support employees' financial health.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to employee wellbeing, including mental health, occupational health and safety, and benefits administration.
- Competency in using digital tools and platforms to enhance employee engagement in wellbeing programs, such as wellness apps or online resources.

Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
Hours Per Week: 37.5
