The Opportunity

Gravy Analytics is seeking a Sales Development Representative to fill a hybrid role that combines inside sales, lead qualification, relationship cultivation, and frequent in person networking at industry events. The ultimate goal is to secure meetings for our Sales team with qualified new prospects. We are looking for a rising star who wants to grow their career quickly within an industry leading geospatial intelligence start up.


You will be the first point of contact for prospects, playing a key and highly visible role in a fast-paced growing company. Success in this role requires a hunter-mentality, as significant time will be spent on the phone and via email cultivating prospects and following up on leads generated from marketing programs. You will be expected to frequently attend public sector events in the Greater Washington DC area and utilize your own network to generate top of funnel sales activity.


What You Will Do

  • Attend industry events to build a network and find opportunities. You should be comfortable representing the company and our products at conferences.
  • Respond to potential customer inquiries and inbound leads.
  • Generate new prospects via strategic email campaigns, cold calling, LinkedIn, etc. to build a pipeline of targeted prospects.
  • Conduct research to engage market prospects that fit our ideal customer profile and identify key contacts and decision makers.
  • Identify prospects’ business needs and qualify the ability to address them.
  • Document all activities in our sales engagement software (HubSpot), with the goal of efficiently tracking activity across accounts and contacts.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other team members to share and learn from best practices.
  • Learn, grow, and take initiative. The role has many facets and requires a lot of research, synthesis, and action.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of success working in sales development and lead generation/ qualification in the public sector, bringing a network of potential contacts
  • Experience with outreach such as cold calling and emailing
  • Excellent at verbal and written communication as well as building relationships
  • Highly organized and can handle multiple prospects with ease
  • Extremely coachable and willing to receive and implement feedback
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or a related field
    • Previous experience CRM software (e.g., Hubspot) as well as industry research tools (GovWin, Sams/ USAspending, etc…)
