About the Role:
Smith.ai, a startup founded by Ex-Googlers, connects remote-working live agents with artificial
intelligence to deliver superior 24/7 virtual receptionists and online chat solutions to small and
medium businesses. We are looking for experienced, dedicated, and hungry sales professionals
to join our rapidly growing team. This person should have a proven track record of
overperformance in an sales managment role and experience thriving in a fast-moving
startup environment. The Sales Manager's goal is to lead and coach high performing Account Executives, identify opportunities with prospects and build them into long-term profitable relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, coach, develop, and lead a team of Account Executives
- Guide a team in exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual targets
- Monitor sales performance: activity, pipelines, forecasts, and closed-deals to ensure
quota attainment
- Manage the sales funnel from prospect to close and create metrics to improve
performance
- Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly team forecasts
- Confidently report on and own the results of your team
- Work well cross-functionally (especially with Marketing) to maximize revenue-generating
opportunities and campaigns
- Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and interviewing process to add and retain top talent
- Successfully onboard, train, and ramp-up new team members
- Continuously gain product knowledge and contribute to Smith.ai’s ongoing
improvements of products, operations, and teams
- Portray your thinking, strategies, and ideas to drive forward our company’s values,
culture, and vision
We are looking for someone who:
- You love to get into the trenches with your AEs by shadowing calls, being a difference
maker in deals and driving individual improvement and while surfacing feedback on GTM
improvements.
- Experience in successfully mentoring and/or leading others effectively
- High emotional intelligence - you have genuine empathy for others and maximize your
impact through understanding the motivations of your team, and adapting your
communication accordingly
- You have a track record of leading and empowering groups towards driving improvement
while navigating change and simultaneously succeeding
- You create a culture of transparency and accountability while having fun and fostering a strong team environment
- Committed to overachievement - you are resilient and gain team buy-in to overachieve
against targets regardless of the level of adversity being faced
- Data-driven - you lean into leveraging data as the main driver in identifying which core
KPIs need the most improvement to yield the most growth and success across your
team
Desired skills & experience:
- 3+ years of experience building and managing high performing sales teams at startup
and growth stage technology companies.
- 5+ years of sales experience as a part of a high performing team at startup and growth
stage technology companies.
- Successful track record of 100%+ quota achievement as a manager and individual
contributor in the small business and/or midmarket space
- Experience managing and improving full-cycle Account Executive KPIs
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-growth startup environment
- Passionate about innovating and exceeding expectations while putting the customer first
- Sharp, resourceful, detail-oriented, resilient and well-organized
- University or college degree in Business, Economics, Marketing or an acceptable
combination of education and work experience
- 3-5 years of sales/customer-facing experience
- Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal
- Experience in a startup environment
- Experience with CRMs and various sales technology (Preferably Salesforce)

This is a full-time position with a base salary that ranges between $110,000 - $125,000 per year.
In addition to salary and sales bonus (uncapped), you are eligible for equity and a competitive
benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and PTO
