You’ll be responsible for working closely with our research, engineering, and product teams in the development of cutting-edge products and services. In this role, you will:Serve as an integral part of the business teams that you support to help launch and continually improve AI products and services.Identify and address product, regulatory, privacy, and other legal risks and mitigations.Develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative ways and build processes for scaling flexible solutions that address risk.Coordinate with internal policy, privacy, and other stakeholders on a variety of internal/external policy and regulatory mattersManage research with outside counsel on sensitive topicsCollaborate effectively with other team members and Legal teams on cross-functional strategic projectsBecome an expert in AI legal matters and help propose and advance AI legal policy positions.You’ll Enjoy This Role If YouUnderstand the letter of the law and can approach problems in a practical, principled approach.Build cross-functional relationships and communication styles that resonate with teams to balance risk-taking with responsible development.Have a strong sense of ownership, are inquisitive and enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and can demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.Required Skills/ExperienceUndergraduate degree and law degree.State Bar membership.5-7 years law firm and/or in-house transactional experience.Experience in product counseling in privacy, policy, and intellectual property issues, preferably within artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).Experience in intellectual property, privacy, and contract lawAbility to understand technical issues and communicate effectively with executives and product leadsExceptional communication and collaboration skillsInterest in immersion into a fast-paced, high-profile, and intellectually challenging environmentExcellent written and oral communication and negotiation skills.Highly responsive and collaborative attitude.Ability to prioritize and handle competing matters.Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal business partners.Ability to identify, evaluate and provide risk-appropriate solutions to the business based on sound and practical legal and business judgment.Beneficial Skills/ExperienceExperience supporting AI research or similar initiatives.Experience working within a fast-paced global technology company or similar industry.Experience with open source.Experience working with an internal contract management system.Flexibility and a desire to learn and grow.Dedication to pro bono services.AccommodationsIf you require assistance due to a disability applying for open positions please submit a request via this Accommodations Request Form.Posting StatementAt Salesforce we believe that the business of business is to improve the state of our world.
