AI System Architecture & Design Engineer Intern (Bachelors or Masters, Summer 2025)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• As an Engineer in the Architecture team, the engineer will work with team to design and implement system requirements for SSD products, based on PCIe/NVMe protocols.
• Activities include setting up AI models including LLMs, studying workloads, System resource utilization, tuning/optimizing LLMs and produce reports.
• Collaborate with system architects to explore performance and power trade-offs upon different use-cases and system conditions.

Required:

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with a graduation date of May/June 2026 
• Interest and curiosity for Solid State Drives (SSDs) and NAND Flash memory 
• Available to work a 12-week, full time internship during May/June - Aug/Sept 2025 in our Milpitas, CA office. Note: Relocation is not provided for this internship. 
• Highly organized and Self-motivated and self-directed.
• Able to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks.
• Ability to achieve results in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills:

It’s helpful if you meet one or more of the following qualifications, but it isn't a requirement. 

• Ability to write/debug firmware with C/C++, Python
• Storage device and computer architecture understanding
• Hands-On experience in setting, tuning and fine-tuning AI models
• Strong working knowledge of PCIe standards
• Good understanding of processor architecture like ARM/ARC or similar
• Debug skills using lab equipment like high-speed PCIE protocol analyzer
• Hands-on experience with software Design and development

Compensation & Benefits Details

• An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
• If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws.  You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned.
