Staff Vacancy Announcement


The Campus Dining invites applications for Sanitation Technician to oversee the cleaning and sanitizing of pots and pans, dishes and the catering bakery area in the University Center. This position will train and supervise student dish room staff, receive deliveries from vendors when required, and perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers. This position will assist management staff in inventories and kitchen production when required by events or emerging circumstances. This position reports to both the executive pastry chef and executive sous chef of catering.


Required Skills


  • Expert knowledge in operating a commercial dish machine and of cleaners and sanitizing solutions.
  • Expert knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
  • This physically demanding position requires standing for long periods and moving pots, pans, carts and sometimes heavy objects around the kitchens
  • Ability to communicate and work with a variety of clients
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills
  • Working knowledge and experience in food service
  • Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have experience with training and supervisory practices and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience using numerous pieces of standard food service equipment
  • ServSafe certified or ability to become certified within one year of employment
  • Must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times, and be able to work within a very diverse work force.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to lift materials from floor level to table height, which requires mobility and some physical demands, and work in an environment with noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Provide oversight and training of students and temporary staff in the dish room.

Minimum Required Experience


  • High School diploma and one (1) year of commercial dishwashing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Must be ServSafe certified within one year of employment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license at the time of employment

Position Details


Position Title: Sanitation Technician (Culinary Associate II)

Position Number: NEW

Department: Campus Dining

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), 12 months/year,

Schedule will be event driven, nights and weekends maybe required

Salary: $17.52/hr

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum

Benefits Include: Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan,

partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
