Job Summary

The Sanitation Worker Specialist’s job function is to clean in any area assigned by the Master Sanitation System (MSS) and work in areas that the supervisor may assign. The job includes tasks that assist in the control of microbiology, bacteria, and mold growth in and around the equipment and other areas of our manufacturing facilities.

The Sanitation Worker Specialist should know all tasks and will provide training to new employees on cleaning procedures. You will rotate and may work in all areas, cleaning equipment with high-pressure systems and operating high pressure washing equipment.

Tasks include cleaning and sanitizing the specified equipment listed on the MSS. Employees in this position are expected to know what parts and equipment will be needed in order to operate all the various lines during changeovers at their facilities.

You may work in high temperatures (ovens) and low temperatures (cold room). While performing the tasks, it is necessary to work with chemicals and substantial amounts of water. You must be able to lift heavy items ranging from 20-40 pounds and work at heights up to 40 feet.

While performing the duties of this job, you may be exposed to fast-moving machinery, mechanical parts and airborne particles. Moving conveyors may affect people who are sensitive to motion. The noise level in the work environment is loud and some areas require hearing protection.

You must follow proper safety procedures at all times. You are required to wear approved clothing while in specified plant areas. This includes hairnets, slip-resistant steel-toed safety shoes, gloves and hearing protection. No jewelry, nail polish, or artificial nails are allowed in the food production facilities.

You will be required to attend specialized training to prepare for certain tasks. You must also be willing to submit to pre-employment drug screening and a background check.

Training and/or experience in operating lift equipment

Training and/or experience with high pressure water systems

Related training; including blood borne pathogens, confined space, lock out systems, dust hazard, chemical management, etc.

Ability to obtain and maintain an LTO (Lift Truck Operator) license (includes a good driving record and meeting vision requirements to drive a lift truck at McKee Foods)
