School Bus Monitor

School Bus Monitor - Long County Schools

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of students? Bus Aides/Bus Monitors play an integral role in assisting the school bus driver in providing a safe, orderly, and efficient transportation service for students. They support the needs of students during routine activities and emergency situations. Bus Monitors effectively supervise and manage the behavior of students and often provide support for an individual student or group of students with special needs and/or disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with special needs including when entering and exiting the bus
  • Ensure the safe and orderly conduct of students on the bus
  • Provide instruction to students regarding proper safety; ensure seat belts are worn
  • Participate in scheduled emergency bus evacuation drills
  • Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students
  • *Additional cleaning duties for COVID-19 safety will be required as well*
    • PPE will be provided by the district

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • GA state background check/Fingerprint Clearance conducted by the Long County BOE
  • ESS mandatory orientation and Long County BOE mandatory bus monitor training required

(Approximate Times) AM routes run 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM & PM routes run 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM
