Our peer tutoring platform empowers learners everywhere with free online tutoring over Zoom. We currently have thousands of users from 150+ countries, with plans to grow this platform to millions.

We’re looking for a full-time team member to join us through a twelve-month, hourly contract, as we work to build a global, inclusive learning community. This role combines hands-on operational tasks with volunteer management & opportunities to contribute to strategic projects. You’ll work closely with both our team and volunteer community, taking ownership of critical day-to-day operations while also learning and growing in areas like volunteer management, user support, and safety operations. Applicants must be physically located in the United States and legally authorized to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role at this time.

Demonstrated ability to manage operational tasks effectively and stay organized
Open to candidates with a wide range of professional experience, from entry-level to 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in operations, customer service, or community management is a plus, but not required
Experience working with teenagers or in education-focused settings is a plus, but not required
Safety Operations & Management
Lead safety operations by manually investigating flagged safety issues and taking appropriate action
Conduct quality assurance for safety-related tasks completed by colleagues and volunteers
Collaborate on refining safety policies and workflows, including updating templates and identifying product improvements to streamline processes
Research and implement best practices in online safety and community standards
Contribute to strategic safety projects as needed, such as developing new safety features or analyzing platform activity to identify risks
Volunteer Management
Supervise five volunteer teams, focusing on supporting team leadership and ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed (which may require occasional evening or weekend calls, based on US timezones)
Provide support during key moments such as recruiting, onboarding, and off-boarding volunteers
Elevate volunteer feedback about product systems to the internal team and identify opportunities to improve the user experience
Help enhance processes to engage volunteers and scale their contributions effectively
Operations
Perform regular maintenance tasks on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly basis to support background systems and ensure a seamless user experience
The interview process will generally consist of:
A 30 minute intro call with James, the Learning Community Lead, to discuss your background, interests, & the role
A 30-minute conversation with Mariah, our Head of Foundations and Schoolhouse Co-founder, that includes a live skill assessment to showcase how you’d approach situations you might encounter in the role
We’ll conduct reference checks to learn more about your work experience and strengths
A 30 minute panel-style discussion with team members from various verticals you’re likely to collaborate with, giving you insight into cross-functional work at Schoolhouse
Fully remote
$26-30/hr, 32-40 hours per week
15 days paid time off, in addition to observed holidays
