Scientist II, Pathology

Summary:


In this role you will support the development and commercialization of medically differentiated therapies by providing histological and tissue-based deliverables. You will use industry standard histological techniques as well as develop novel methodologies to support discovery, translational, and CDx work across therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Routine histology work such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning FFPE and frozen tissues with a microtome and cryostat, tissue microarray construction, H&E and IHC staining using automated platforms.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on histology techniques and applications.
  • Analyze, interpret and troubleshoot experimental results.
  • Understand the broad objectives of the project as well as their role in achieving those objectives, and modify experimental plan when required, to respond.
  • Innovate and implement new experimental protocols.
  • Effectively organize and present scientific plans and data.

Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent education with typically 7 or more years of experience or MS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience. Ideally in Cancer Biology, Physiology, Cell Biology or a related field
  • Experience in diagnostic (IVD & CDx) assay development either in the pharma or diagnostic industries is preferred
  • Familiarity with the principles of tissue microscopic anatomy/histology including knowledge of pathological alterations in disease and experience working in collaboration with trained pathologists is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with development of immunohistochemistry (IHC) and other tissue-based assays including immunofluorescence (IF) multiplexing and in situ hybridization (ISH) is helpful
  • Ability to summarize results effectively and clearly for presentation and report generation, upon request
  • Ideal candidates will have practical and/or educational laboratory experience working in a research histology lab, or clinical anatomical pathology lab.
  • HT, HTL certification or eligible for certification

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
