What you’ll do

Scout Motors is a trailblazing force in the automotive industry, known for delivering cutting-edge vehicles. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Planner in JIS (Just-In Sequence) Planning for Inhouse Logistics to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring precise planning and coordination of logistics activities to support our unique Just-In-Sequence operations in vehicle manufacturing. Here's what else you'll do:

JIS Planning: 

  • Develop and implement Just-In-Sequence (JIS) planning strategies for in-house logistics operations at Scout Motors. 
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to align logistics activities with vehicle production schedules. 

Material Sequencing:

  • Plan and sequence the delivery of materials in precise accordance with vehicle production requirements. 
  • Optimize material sequencing to ensure smooth and timely production processes for Scout Motors vehicles.

Coordination with Suppliers:

  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials in the required sequence. 
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance the efficiency and reliability of JIS logistics for Scout Motors. 

Data Analysis: 

  • Analyze data related to JIS logistics performance, vehicle production schedules, and material availability. 
  • Utilize data insights to make informed decisions and continuously improve JIS planning processes specific to Scout Motors. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in JIS planning and in-house logistics at Scout Motors. 
  • Implement best practices to enhance the overall efficiency of logistics operations within our automotive manufacturing. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and other relevant teams at Scout Motors to address JIS-related challenges.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure alignment on JIS planning requirements for vehicle production. 

Technology Utilization:

  • Utilize advanced planning tools and software tailored to JIS logistics optimization in the automotive sector.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements in logistics planning relevant to vehicle manufacturing. 

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role is onsite out of a Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related fields.  
  • 5 years of experience in in automotive production and logistics (e.g., manually, and automated JIS/JIT material flow, JIT/JIS equipment, containers and transportation specifications, suppliers park) 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficiency in using advanced planning tools and software specific to automotive logistics. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $90,000-$100,000

Internal leveling code: IC9
