Work Type: Per diem

Hours vary per week

Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Job Summary: Do you smile with your eyes? Are you a confident and compassionate person looking for an opportunity to serve your community by delivering caring service? We are looking for Screeners to join our Patient Experience team!

The Screener assists patients, visitors and staff to safely enter Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Screeners are a warm, calm and compassionate presence to our community as they first enter the medical center. They do this by taking temperatures, asking if people have specific symptoms of illness and providing masks when appropriate. When working with visitors, they communicate current visitation policies and utilize the daily patient census for visitation policy exceptions. Screener’s work closely with patient care staff to navigate extenuating circumstances. Screeners are a key component in limiting exposure to our patients, our employees and our community from illness.

We have a variety of shifts available 7 days a week.

Responsibilities: The employee must possess the core competencies of self-management, collaboration, initiative flexibility and motivation, i.e. staff must be willing to accept changes in assignment as needed. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Education/ Training: A High School Graduate or G.E.D. required.

Skills & Abilities: Must possess good oral and written communication skills in the English language; patient centered care philosophy; strong team player. Able to function as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Follows safety procedures to prevent injury to self and others.

Physical Demands:

Visual acuity, color vision, hearing acuity, and tactile sensation are necessary to respond to patient response and requests. Must possess the manual dexterity and a degree of body strength and flexibility to respond to aggressive patient behavior. The ability to reach and stretch intermittently. Time may be spent sitting at a computer, collaborating with other healthcare team members. Standing and walking comprises some of the workday.

Other Skills Required:

Must be customer service oriented, with a pleasant, outgoing personality.

Must be outgoing and comfortable welcoming people to the medical center.

Excellent communication skills.

Positive team-building mentality.
