Screw Machine Operator

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for the setup, adjustment and operating of a variety of machine shop equipment, including but not limited to, milling machines, drill presses, saws, pneumatic, hydraulic, resistance welding and vibratory equipment as well as a variety of common hand tools.

Duties:

• Set up and operate Screw Machine Centers
• Work with CNC equipment with instruction
• Set up, adjust and operate machine tools with limited supervision
• Perform complex machine setups and critical operations, subject to review
• Move materials to and from work station as needed and maintain a clean and safe work area and report unusual conditions to department supervisor.
• Required to fill out all necessary paperwork involved with each job such as the QC inspection sheets, Move Tickets, etc.
• Operate various hand tools, power hand tools and machine tools to make finish adjustments to products.
• May be required to grind standard tools
• Perform follow up in-process inspection to verify operator comprehension and quality compliance.
• Responsible for maintenance and repair of machines

Other Responsibilities:

• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Assist in the decision making process of future machine and tooling purchases
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
• Some heavy lifting required up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications:

Ability to read and understand documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization. Ability to perform simple math and use basic hand measuring tools including precision gages/equipment. Proficient use of desktop PC required. Requires 1-3 years of Screw Machine experience.
