Student Assistant, SDSU Global Campus International Team

Overview

  • This position is open until filled with an applicant selection to take place after April 17, 2025. 
  • The pay rate for this position is $17.25 per hour, part time, and is non-negotiable. 

The mission of the SDSU Global Campus (SDSUGC) is to provide self-support education and training to enhance careers and transform lives and organizations. SDSUGC serves as the principal university liaison with the greater San Diego community and provides a wide variety of traditional and nontraditional, credit and noncredit educational experiences designed to fit the life-style and expectations of working adults and other lifelong learners. The American Language Institute (ALI) provides language training to international students and programs which allow international students to attend credit courses at SDSU.

Responsibilities

Administrative Support (40%):

 

  • Provide excellent customer service to all visitors, including staff members, current and prospective students, parents and guests
  • Handle inquiries via phone and email, and forward to appropriate staff member and/or campus department
  • Perform basic reception functions, including daily mail distribution, receiving deliveries, keeping office supplies and machines stocked, etc.
  • Communicate with various Global Campus departments

 

International Program Support (30%)

 

  • Assist new and current international students with various inquiries
  • Support staff with new agent and university agreements and Memoranda of Understanding processes, including population of agreements using templates and updating tracking sheet and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database
  • Assist staff with programming and events, including orientation, ALI activities, and certificate ceremonies
  • Create student documents using templates and upload to database
  • Provide support for other program-related projects

 

Student Recruitment Support (25%)

 

  • Monitor general email and LiveChat and respond to inquiries
  • Respond to prospective international student questions regarding housing, student life, etc.
  • Assemble materials for international recruiting trips
  • Support development of marketing materials, including creation of flyers and presentations
  • Prepare post-trip Travel Expense Reports
  • Support other areas of marketing and communications, as needed

 

All Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

 

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education

  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at SDSU

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, and Adobe Acrobat (formatting PDF documents)
  • Ability to work minimum 12 hours per week during school year
  • Ability to work during academic breaks and long-term (one year or longer)
  • Prior office work experience or customer service experience
  • Experience working with databases and CRM systems (such as Salesforce)
  • Photography/video editing/graphic design skills
  • Ability to speak a second language

  • Candidate must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at time of hire.
