Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do
The Security Officer plays a critical role in protecting life and property of all persons on Hillcrest Medical Center premises and patrols hospital buildings and ground to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Secures, unlocks, and protects hospital buildings. Responds to security needs of hospital personnel, patients, and visitors. This position is safety sensitive.
The successful candidate will be able to:

Patrol hospital grounds in order to provide sufficient protection to employees, patients, and visitors as well as institutional property
- Direct and controls vehicular traffic to ensure means of access to and exit from the institution

Act as the first responder to requests for assistance in security related matters and facilities initiation of emergency and disaster procedures in a timely and efficient manner

Interact with law enforcement, patients, visitors and staff to investigate security and related incidents in order to ensure the most appropriate follow-up action taken

Properly document daily activities and incident reports in a timely and accurate manner

Maintain composure during high stress, emergency, or uncommon conditions in order to achieve the security mission of protecting the safety of those on hospital grounds
- Sustain working relationships and cooperation with other security personnel and outside law enforcement in order to maximize and enhance the Security Program at Hillcrest Medical Center

Escort personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested
Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver's license with good driving record

Valid ARMED Guard CLEET License
-
Maintains current BLS and obtains certification within 30 days of hire

Annual CLEET requalification handgun & shotgun required by a CLEET certified instructor

Maintains OC/Pepper Spray certification
-
Upholds Crisis Intervention Training from SAMA – SATORI and obtains certification within 30 days of hire

Must be able to maintain a safe environment by being physically able to; kneel while attending mandatory training classes (CPI, Gun Range and CPR) or chase suspects by foot (as needed), take control of combative suspects (as necessary), place suspects in custody if the need arises until local authorities are notified and respond to make the arrest.

Skill in oral communications, especially listening and recalling information during high stress conditions
- Knowledge of verbal and non-verbal tactics to safely de-escalate emotional individuals

Ability to use non-violent crisis intervention techniques, trained defense tactics, restraint tactics, and a working knowledge sufficient to assist outside law enforcement or fire personnel as needed

Knowledge of and skill with computer systems, including spreadsheets, word processing, email, computer-aided dispatch, alarm systems, access control databases, and surveillance cameras

Knowledge of radio equipment for communications
