Responsibilities:
The Security Officer II will work Regular Full-time, Various Shift and Weekend and will enforce procedural rules and regulations.

The Security Officer II ensures the personal safety of staff, visitors, patients, and property of MIBH.

The Security Officer II maintains security and safety to assigned areas.

Maintains working knowledge of the locations of various departments, buildings, access routes, and admitting requirements.

Patrols assigned areas including all buildings within the main campus, including but not limited to the hospital, support areas, clinic, data center and storage facilities, parking lots, and affiliated properties within the Bassett Healthcare system.

Checks for suspicious occurrences.

Operates and monitor security control panel alarms, surveillance cameras, and related security equipment to provide property, area, and visitor security.

Enforces parking and policy procedural rules and regulations.
-
Ensures parking is provided for patients, visitors, and staff through effective enforcement of applicable polices.

Enforces parking rules and regulations.

The Security Officer II checks vehicles in patient and private parking lots for authorized parking sticker. Issues parking violation warnings, and tags and requests towing as per policy.

Responds to and investigates situations reported to the Security Office regarding theft, vandalism, damage to vehicles, drug diversions, and missing persons.

The Security Officer II completes necessary information and maintains a log of all incidents that occur during the course of each shift and may use computer terminal to input and retrieve data.

Collects and transport money, and handles small amounts of cash and transactions when necessary.

Responsible for lost and found items and maintenance of applicable logs and records.

The Security Officer II receives and maintains patient valuables in safekeeping for the duration of the hospitalization the patient utilizing proper double bag and signature procedures.

Maintains records and logs.

Check identification, power of attorney, etc. if a family member or friend of the patient signs for the valuables.
Qualifications:
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. Experience:

Experience in security, law enforcement, Fire Squad, EMS or military preferred
Licensure/Certificates:
-
Must hold a valid Driver's License at time of hire NYS Security Guard License or a Law Enforcement Certification within 90 days of hire Must have or obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification or equivalent within 120 days from date of hire.

Must have or obtain Basic Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Certification (pepper spray) and Basic Handcuffing Techniques within 120 days from date of hire
Skills:
-
Must be able to demonstrate ability to effectively manage disruptive or combatant patients within the first 90 days of hire.

Must have basic understanding or working knowledge with various access control systems and devices.
-
Must be able to recognize situations the involve potential verbal and physical abuse or violence by a patient or visitor and acquire the ability for competent verbal de-escalation.

Must be able to competently perform life safety rounds and environmental safety rounds.

Must be able to competently patrol and inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to detect hazardous conditions, crimes or violations of New York State and Federal Law and be able to respond to emergency situations.

Must be able to obtain proficiency in defensive tactics and managing combative or violent individuals.
Physical Requirements:

Ongoing possibility of safety risks.

Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions while responding to or performing security operations on all shifts. Work regularly requires sustained concentration.

Prolonged / extensive sitting, standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to trained and fit tested to wear respiratory equipment.
