Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Provides security presence at the Downtown Campus and ensures safety for patients/visitors/staff. Assists in any Code Grays, or Codes that happen within the Hospital Campus. Follows the command of their shift supervisor or site supervisor on duties and functions of the Downtown Campus. Security Officer will be in required to understand the functions of the camera systems, patrol the facility, and provide security assistance when needed.

Essential Job Functions
Patrols the interior and exterior of the campus to ensure staff safety, and to be alert for criminal activity. Patrols to be conducted or assigned by the Sergeant at least two times per shift.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to respond appropriately to the age, gender, and culture of the patients served by the hospital system during or involving safety and/or security issues, incidents, or accidents. Serves non-direct patient population; possible contact with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric age groups among public. Must demonstrate competence to provide psychosocial care for the following patient populations: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric
Coordinates with the Security Team Lead, Security Site Supervisor, Security Manager, and Security Director on new initiatives within the Security Department.
Responds to all Security related issues such as Code Gray, Rapid Responses, and other calls for assistance with the Downtown Campus.
Will provide support service roles such as giving directions to patients/visitors at the Downtown Campus, and escort patients/visitors when requested.
Will write well written reports when incidents occur on the campus by using the ministry standard Omnigo reporting system.
Employment Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Preferred Education: Associates Degree
Specialty/Major: Criminal Justice
Licensure/Certification Required: Basic IAHSS Certification with 90 days of hire.
Licensure/Certification Preferred: Advanced IAHSS Certification within 1 year of hire.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 1 years of Security experience. Healthcare Security experience preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Basic computer skills, communication skills.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: De-escalation skills (CPI).
