I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrols the buildings and grounds of The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) as well as the outlying properties to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, medical staff and the protection to property.
- Greets, assists and provides service to patients, visitors and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Performs duties relative to accomplishing the QMC Emergency Preparedness function.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Essential: Standing, sitting, walking, running, driving/riding of a bicycle, twisting/side bending, climbing, squatting, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting 30 to 50 pounds, carrying 35 to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds of force.
- Frequent: standing, walking, driving, climbing stairs.
- Occasional: sitting, lifting/carrying 21 pounds up to 35 pounds from ground to shoulder level, lifting 11 pounds up to 20 pounds above shoulder, pushing/pulling up to 70 pounds of force, twisting of body, reaching above shoulder level, forward reaching, walking on uneven ground.
- Operates computer, typewriter, telephone, copier, CCTV, 2-way radios and various types of vehicles.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Exposure to body fluids, blood products, and communicable diseases.
- Work environment may be highly stressful, fast paced, and hectic.
- Exposed to electrical hazards, fire hazards and unsafe conditions and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, hazardous chemicals and materials, intense heat, extreme cold, natural and manmade disasters and hazards associated with working in and near traffic.
- The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to extreme.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Post secondary coursework or college degree preferred.
- Current State of Hawaii Guard Registration card.
- Valid U.S. driver's license required in accordance with Hawaii state law rules and regulations.
- Driver's abstract or evidence of good driving record.
- Meet and comply with qualifications set forth in QMC Fleet Safety Policy.
- Current BLS-HCP certification.
B. EXPERIENCE:
- Previous law enforcement, firefighting or security experience preferred.
- Experience to demonstrate:
o Customer service skills to deal effectively with customers.
o Ability to write complete and accurate reports.
o Ability to speak, read, write and understand English both orally and in writing and the ability to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and concerns.
