Senior Android Native Application Developer

We're looking for a Senior Android Native Application Developer to join the team in London and help us take the vision of the Stemplayer up a few notches. You'll be a part of our core team working on innovative products and experiences at the intersection of media and technology.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Write performant, lucid code for apps on Android
• Contribute to the exploration and ongoing definition during the prototyping stage for a highly complex product, in collaboration with designers and other engineers
• Bring best practises to the productization stage of development

Skills required

Technical

• Native Android app development, not just using Electron / Cordova / etc.
• Experience with Kotlin, Android UI, Android threads, Android unit and instrumented testing, CI / CD automation
• High performance responsive and animated application UI, e.g. games, media processing, sound synthesis, or similar
• Understanding of networking and security from an application point of view, in particular in low-latency use case

Teamworking

• Comfortable in an agile environment
• Able to communicate clearly and also to elucidate precision from others when they are unclear or vague
• Be both flexible enough to write quick and dirty code during rapid prototyping and for urgent demos, but strong minded enough to insist on, and model rigour during business as usual
• Working closely with Product and Design with good attention to detail and focus on UX fluidity and responsiveness
• Keen on knowledge sharing and training up others

Skills nice to have - Technical

• Experience interfacing to hardware devices
• Streaming and shared media e.g. VoIP, video conferencing
• Digital Signal Processing
• Experience with native Linux app development
• Experience with platform level development (OS, packaging, device drivers device-tree)
• Knowledge of React, React Native, Typescript, Java Script
