Senior Business Development Coordinator

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Senior Business Development Coordinator in our Marketing department, reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager.

This role can reside in the Houston, Dallas or New York office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for implementing the business development goals and strategies of the Corporate practice. The Business Development Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Client development
    • Assist with the preparation of business development presentations, reports and new business RFPs and proposals in PowerPoint and Word format.
    • Assist with the development and execution of business development strategies, plans and projects, including identifying and evaluating new business opportunities and targets, facilitating cross-selling initiatives, and participating on industry-specific target teams.
    • Assist with research initiatives to obtain business from new and existing clients. This includes working with the Akin Business Intelligence team and using various firm databases.
  • Brand & content marketing
    • Assist with the preparation of legal directories and other rankings and surveys.
    • Facilitate Akin-hosted and third-party events, webinars, conferences, sponsorships and memberships, including event execution, post-event follow-up and tracking lead generation.
    • Coordinate with PR/Media team members to promote exposure of firm, practice and individual attorneys through media, award and directory submissions, and writing and speaking opportunities.
    • Manage production, dissemination and tracking of client alerts, newsletters and other external communications.
    • Manage posting to Akin blogs and other sections of akingump.com.
  • Information management
    • Create and update various internal communications and other reports.
    • Maintain marketing collateral and attorney biographies.
    • Manage mailing list creation and maintenance.
    • Maintain current and accurate experience lists, matter descriptions, case studies and client lists for use in marketing and business development efforts.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a marketing-related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional services experience, preferably in a law firm
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong writing and editing skills and a high attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and service orientation
  • Commitment to professional growth and development
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload, stay organized, work independently and as a member of teams, and complete tasks under time pressure as necessary
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and initiative
  • Poise, tact and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential; experience with Vuture, InterAction, Foundation and Capital IQ is preferred

The base salary range for this position in New York is $85,000 to $100,000. Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
