Grey Midwest senior copywriters are both long- and short-form writers from a wide range of backgrounds who are experienced in the digital space. They possess a shared talent for transforming great ideas into engaging creative and are united by a passion for storytelling.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate world-class execution of innovative and effective communication across multiple industries, markets, and media and proficiently write in diverse copy styles across a range of assignments
- Analyze problems, anticipate consequences, and eliminate obstacles to successfully complete projects
- Quick with wit, gives options, builds on humor within the work, and finds unexpected ways to say straight copy
- Work with Art Directors and Creative Leaders to concept, write, present, and defend work while addressing client needs; craft original concepts, execute copy based on established voice/tone, and lead mid- and junior-level writers on copy execution
- Concept and collaborate on campaign ideas and cross-platform tactics with a multi-disciplinary team while working on multiple projects; manage and prioritize within timelines for project milestones; comfortable thinking of how an idea/assignment impacts the larger campaign and brings growth concepts
- Lead the copy discipline in internal and external client meetings and may plan workflow for the discipline within a client team or by project
- Collaborate with design partner, able to think both art and copy and give opinions and ideas on both
- Actively train and mentor mid-level and junior creative team members, helping them develop their skills and performance
- Proactively research and pursue ideas for professional development; seek out creative mentorship and inspiration
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of copywriting and conceptual experience within the digital space, preferably within a creative or digital agency
- Outstanding portfolio showcasing cross-platform experience which may include campaign, TV/video/radio, digital, social, print, or eCommerce
- Strong conceptual thinking
- Expert written, verbal, and presentation skills; comfortable talking about work, advocating for it, and building solutions for it, both internally and externally with clients
- Experience establishing direction and vision which mobilizes the copy team to meet clearly defined goals
- Understanding of and ability to work within CMS and/or social platforms
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year university or two-year portfolio school
