Senior Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join our organization as the Associate Director, Data Systems. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the management, optimization, and future integration of our various data systems, ranging from our homegrown ecommerce platform's various production and development databases, web analytics data systems, data lake and other reporting data warehousing systems. Your expertise in these areas will be crucial in driving our data-driven decision-making processes and ensuring the integrity, security, and scalability of our data systems.

This position is based in New York, NY but fully remote is allowed if you live in the United Kingdom or one of the following states: MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, MD, FLA, IL, TX, or CA.

Candidates must be willing to work east coast hours.

Database Administration:

Lead the overall strategy, design, implementation, and maintenance of our database systems.
Ensure data integrity, security, and performance across all database environments.
Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to maintain data quality and consistency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement database optimizations and improvements.

Data Pipelining:

Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines to enable efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
Collaborate with internal teams to identify data requirements and implement scalable data integration solutions.
Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality data to stakeholders.

Data Warehousing:

Lead the implementation and maintenance of data warehousing solutions to support business intelligence and reporting needs.
Develop data models, schemas, and ETL processes to facilitate efficient data storage and retrieval.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data warehousing requirements and ensure data accessibility and accuracy.

Business Intelligence:

Develop, maintain and expand on the company's robust business intelligence infrastructure.
Ensure the integrity of the business intelligence data by working with business stakeholders and various engineering teams.
Assume administrative responsibilities over the reporting infrastructure, manage access grants and oversee the business contract of the platform.

AWS Implementation:

Oversee the implementation, configuration, and optimization of AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices in AWS environments.
Collaborate with IT and development teams to leverage AWS capabilities for data-related initiatives.

Who You Are:

You have proven experience (8+ years) in a similar role, with a focus on Database Administration, Data Modeling, Data Pipelining, Data Warehousing, and relevant AWS products (RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Redshift, S3).
You have strong knowledge of database management systems, such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, ideally with working experience in RDS Aurora database clusters.
You have In-depth understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, ETL processes, Dimensional Modeling, and Query Optimization.
You have hands-on experience with Amazon Web Service (AWS) products, including EC2; S3; Redshift; RDS; and IAM.
You have a familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, such as BigQuery and Cloud Storage.

Nice to Have:

You have a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.

Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Tri-State Pay Range

$187,000—$220,000 USD

Remote home office-based employees outside of the tri-state area are eligible for the following salary range.

$168,500—$198,000 USD
