Position Summary:
The Senior Director, Data and Insights is responsible for data, data operations, data intelligence, data reporting, data integration, and data architecture at NU. The Senior Director of Data & Insights Leads, coordinates, manages, and produces the analytical environment and aligns solution design to enterprise data management, security, and governance controls.
The Senior Director, Data and Insights will lead a team of data specialist and work closely with various internal stakeholders/partners to understand business objectives, identify data / information needs, opportunities for improvement and help inform and support business decisions and strategies.
The primary responsibility is to drive and contribute to the building, execution, and adoption of insights delivery solution among business partners, including reporting, guided analytics, self-service, embedded, augmented, and data as a service capability. This includes developing data governance practices, data visualization tools, technology, and analytics to provide actionable information and insights that drive data informed decision making.
Essential Functions:

Provides consultative support, business insight, advice, and expertise to guide decision making and/or strategic planning by leveraging and interpreting data and analytical models to provide business specific or broad strategic insight.

Drive data collection and foundational analytics efforts, ranging from how and where data is collected and stored as part of our engineering systems (in collaboration with data engineering), to how we make data and analyses available to leaders across the University.

Managing, leading, coaching, training, evaluating, performance management and other people leader responsibilities.

Work with leaders across the organization to define and align on the key metrics and reporting, ranging from business, user and student experience, and technology KPIs.

Democratize data by building and socializing decision tools (dashboards, reports); build key data sets/pipelines to empower operational and exploratory analysis.

Ensures data is reliable, consistent, accessible, secure, and timely to support our mission and operating cadence.

Establish and deliver an informed perspective on product, marketing, and business performance, lead team meetings weekly.

Leads teams focused on data development, data architecture, data science, data reporting and data governance.

Partner with the product organization to define and deliver a methodology to produce statistically valid a/b tests and conclusions, and to support data-informed product development mechanisms across all stages of the lifecycle.

Helps design, research, and develop new statistical tools/programs/products to meet business needs.

Use strong analytical, problem solving, and quantitative skills with data-driven approach to decision-making and influencing external partners or internal functions/processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will lead direct and indirect reports including Directors.
Requirements:
Education & Experience

BS/BS or Master’s in related field
-
5+ years management experience
-
10+ years of relevant data analytics, engineer, governance
-
Proven capability of leveraging data driven approach in leading insightful business discussions, supporting strategic initiatives and influencing decision making.

Establish KPI and root cause analysis to identify early performance trends with thoughtful recommendations.

Expertise in query design, generation, reporting and reporting; SQL and SSRS preferred.

Experience in Business Intelligence Dashboards and actionable analytics design.

A deep technical background in analytics, applied data science, and reporting spanning some or all of: analytics, statistics, experimentation, modeling, optimization techniques, data engineering & architecture, and behavioral analytics.

Skilled at operating in a complex, cross-functional organization, or company where your teams need to collaborate and integrate with other teams across many disciplines.

Experience in higher education preferred.

Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency. Compensation Range:
Annual Salary: $98,472.00 - $132,935.00
