The Senior Director - Global IT Application Platforms and Technology Services, a leadership role within our global IT and Procurement team , is responsible for driving business value, operational excellence, shared architectural patterns, and overall strategic direction of the application platforms and technology services utilized globally within Teradata. The position scope covers application platform and technology services utilized by our Marketing, Sales, Consulting Services, Customer support, and Law teams. The role provides strategic technology leadership, defines shared technology and business outcomes, and creates execution plans and budget oversight for business and technology stakeholders. In addition, this Senior Director role will be responsible for driving application and technology services strategy aligned with, and supportive of, defined architecture principles and technology investment initiatives driven by the global IT leadership team. Key success measures in this position are 3–5-year shared application strategic plans, implementation of operational excellence initiatives aligned with IT and corporate goals, quarterly business stakeholder reporting and collaborative updates, and consistent successful delivery of complex technology projects meeting IT and business objectives. This position will also lead and drive strategic research and planning of new technology initiatives aligned with business strategies and prioritized pan-Teradata by the CIO leadership staff.
What You Get to Do in This Role
This Senior Director position will partner closely with two or more global IT technology platform leaders covering Marketing, Sales, Go-to-Market, Consulting, Customer Services, Cloud Operations, and Law IT application teams. This position will also leverage, and be an organizational conduit for, other shared IT service teams such as strategy, architecture, integrations, and our global IT PMO. Key business stakeholders include executives from the Marketing, Sales, and Global Customer Service teams as well as Law and compliance teams.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building and cultivating business stakeholder relationships, leading cross-functional / technical architecture strategy and planning, planning and execution of annual budgeting across technology platforms, planned and managed global IT operational excellence initiatives, and be an excellent communicator and trusted technology partner to business stakeholders. Building and growing the team and organizational culture, including diverse onshore & offshore resources, focused on strategy and operational excellence, is also a key criterion for success.
The responsibilities of this role are:
Provide 3–5-year technology strategic guidance enabling digital transformation of critical business areas
Ensure multi-year strategic roadmap is rationalized with the interconnected technology portfolio, and is aligned with IT cost envelope
Provide leadership and guidance to two or more application platform technology teams
Serve as the trusted technology partner and advisor to key business stakeholders across multiple business areas
Partner with one or more application technology leaders, and the VP of applications, to build and execute on a comprehensive budget and operational oversight program
Project delivery excellence, managing through dynamic priorities, resource challenges, and complex interconnections within the technology ecosystem
Partner with one or more application platform technology leaders to provide tracking and oversight across application technology platforms ensuring maintenance and platform health checks are completed, usage and maintenance agreements are in place and managed, and overall, 3-year strategic plans are created, aligned, and socialized
Provide technical advice and guidance to the CIO leadership staff and the business stakeholders
Work collaboratively with the Business and other IT teams to deliver value to Teradata as measured by business outcomes and aligned technology investments.
Adhere to and utilize company Internal Controls procedure related to release and change management
Partner with the application platform technology leaders to ensure that the incident, problem, and change management processes follow patterns established by IT
Assist one or more application platform technology leaders to manage compliance with Teradata IT third-party application license agreements
Partner with application vendors to deliver periodic strategic account reviews
Provide assistance and guidance to application platform technology leaders to plan and execute the reduction of technical debt
Available to travel as required and allowed based on corporate guidelines for successful delivery of initiatives; Domestic Travel: 10-15%, International Travel for this role is possible, although generally infrequent. All safety considerations regarding travel and health guidelines will be strictly followed.
In order to be successful in this role, we need someone who has:
15+ years as an Information Technology leader, managing global & diverse teams
7+ years of experience at technology companies, including software development (preferred)
3+ or more years of experience applying master data principles & application frameworks
3+ Experience at the Director or Director level managing a wide range of technology teams covering the functions of architecture, SDLC execution, support, design/development, project implementation, and strategic vision.
Experience with industry leading SaaS platforms and integrated technologies and installed applications with global user scope of more than 5000+ users and multiple time zones. Key platforms where experience is important in these applications, or similar, Salesforce CRM and communities, ServiceNow, Informatica, Seismic and other marketing technologies, FinancialForce, Gainsight, and applications serving Legal teams.
Strategic technology planning and budgeting for a portfolio of applications
Budget planning and execution across numerous technology platforms ensuring business outcomes are realized and technology investments are aligned to high value delivery
Expert level communications agent with proven, seasoned expertise in managing efforts across silos as well as upwards to C-level members of the company
Seasoned with diverse systems landscapes and integration needs within complex application platform ecosystem
Comprehensive and demonstrable understanding and experience in managing level 2 and 3 global support staff
Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
Ability to address and resolve demanding situations even under time pressure, and priority conflicts
Strong Program/Project Management Skills - Demonstrated success in large project implementations with a global footprint
Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities
Data driven leadership style driving change and adoption of key business processes across platform technologies utilizing business data and related key performance indicators.
Vast and demonstrated experience leading, collaborating, and supporting business leaders within a large corporate environment
Demonstrated ability to influence and manage the expectations of stakeholders, team members, management, and external partners
Minimum BS/BA in business or a technical field with 15+ years of directly relevant experience.
Preferred Master’s degree with 15+ years of applicable business experience, with at least five (5) years of senior level management experience. (Minimum 5 years’ experience with application technology platform management)
