Job Summary
The Senior Director, Treasury Markets, is responsible for coordinating, overseeing and managing all market-facing finance activity within Bread Financial Treasury. This will include, but is not limited to, parent debt, operating subsidiary wholesale funding, including brokered and sweep deposits, asset-backed funding, conduit funding; all related hedging including interest rate risk and foreign exchange; and liquidity portfolio investment. This role will also advise Treasury, Risk, Finance and business partners on market trends and dynamics. The Senior Director, Treasury Markets, coordinates with Treasury, Risk and Finance staff and business partners on financing activities on funding, liquidity and interest rate risk implications of market-facing financing activities.

Given that funding interest expense is a significant driver of profitability, this role will manage market financing to balance achieving optimal terms with least cost and maximum efficiency. The Senior Director, Treasury Markets, is a dual role with financing, hedging and investment responsibilities in relation to both the parent company and operating subsidiaries, and as such is subject to the Dual Officer Policy.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Parent Debt – Plan, execute and manage all parent debt including credit facilities, term loans, and senior unsecured bonds or other funding instruments. Coordinate with the Director, Treasury Capital Management (TCM) and head of Corporate Planning and Capital Management (CPCM), in executing subordinated capital instruments, including but not limited to, subordinated debt and preferred stock. Managing parent debt includes overseeing and managing relationships with banks who lend to the company (bank group); monitoring compliance with any covenants in bank facilities or loans, or bond indentures, and escalating to Treasury and other staff risk of any non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.
Bank Market Funding - Plan, execute and manage operating subsidiary wholesale funding including brokered and sweep deposits; asset-backed securities (ABS) issuance and program maintenance, including ABS trust establishment, maintenance, administration and reporting; and secured financings involving conduit facilities.
Execution and Marketing – Manage Parent Debt and Bank Market Funding by coordinating with internal and external counsel on transaction documentation; coordinating with investor relations on communications with debt investors, buy-and-sell-side analysts, and rating agencies, including ensuring a regular cadence of communication with such stakeholders. Responsible for marketing efforts relating to Parent Debt and Bank Market Funding, including drafting investor marketing and roadshow presentations.
Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange Hedging - Plan and execute all interest rate and foreign exchange hedging on behalf of Bread Financial and its operating subsidiaries. Hedging responsibilities include coordinating with the Treasury head of interest rate risk management, Treasury Risk Oversight (second line of defense) and Finance, on establishing risk limits and other thresholds, as well as reporting of interest rate and foreign exchange exposure on a stand-alone basis and as measured against such thresholds. Devise strategy and rationale of managing interest rate and foreign exchange risk.
Liquidity Portfolio Management - Manage liquidity portfolio investment in accordance with applicable investment policies. As a regulated financial institution, Bread Financial and its operating subsidiaries, are subject to a variety of regulatory requirements, including maintaining sufficient liquidity for operations and liquidity stress testing. Manage operational liquidity and regulatory liquidity compliance by maintaining sufficient liquid assets to meet obligations when due. Invest cash in qualifying liquidity instruments as defined in applicable investment policies including U.S. Treasury reserves, T-bills, and qualifying money market funds, etc. Coordinate with the head of funding and liquidity risk to determine the appropriate amounts and types of investment, to ensure sufficient operational liquidity and regulatory liquidity compliance, balancing such compliance with achieving maximum return on investment.
Cost of Funds - Maintain the cost of funds of the organization and its operating subsidiaries. Cost of funds is a schedule listing the various types amounts of parent and operating subsidiary fund (for example, term loan, senior debt, brokered, sweep and direct to consumer deposits), interest rate and interest expense associated with each type, and an average and aggregate percentage and dollar cost of each, over a predefined period, both historical and forecasted. Review the cost of funds with the Bank Treasurer and coordinate providing cost of funds to colleagues in Finance for financial planning and forecasting purposes.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:
  • Normal office environment. As a senior leader, must work at a Bread Financial office a minimum of 5 days per month.
  • Ability to travel 5 days a month if not located near a Bread Financial office.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, project management or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in capital markets, in debt syndicate and execution
  • Experience in unsecured debt and money markets and interest rate and foreign exchange hedging responsibility;
  • Experience with funding and liquidity bank regulation and risk management.
  • 12+ years of experience leading a team of people in a professional setting.
  • Required to work from a Bread Financial office at least 5 days each month, regardless of hybrid or work-from-home status. Must be able to travel 5 days per month if needed, because of this requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, project management or other graduate degree.
Typical Starting Range:
$152,500.00 - $326,700.00
Full Salary Range for position:
California:$175,400.00 - $408,500.00
Colorado:$152,500.00 - $343,100.00
New York:$167,700.00 - $408,500.00
Washington:$160,100.00 - $375,800.00
The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate’s first year of employment.
Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
