Senior Fashion Editor

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Knot is looking for a Sr. Fashion Editor to join a dynamic Editorial team across digital and print. This role will shape the dialogue and discourse around all things fashion, beauty and jewelry.

Reporting to the Executive Editor, the Sr. Fashion Editor will be responsible for shaping the fashion narrative of The Knot—for ideating, writing and producing content across channels (digital, print, video, etc.). This position will own category specific thought leadership packages, and original fashion shoot production from product call-ins to on-set styling. He/She/They will represent The Knot at Bridal Fashion Week, in press and with key partners of the brand.

The Sr. Fashion Editor will be responsible for hiring freelance writers to create content for the fashion vertical while managing a small team of internal editors. This role collaborates with content strategists, editors, writers and the visuals team to depict key storytelling opportunities with a user-first mindset, thoughtfully approaching all aspects of packaging by bringing themes and concepts to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Shape the fashion, beauty and jewelry narrative for The Knot and serve as the brand’s subject matter expert in that space.
• Manage and mentor three direct reports and external freelancers, including top editing content.
• Pitch, write and produce longer lead piece, content packages and campaigns across print and digital platforms.
• Support department initiatives pertaining to exclusives and franchise opportunities.
• Appear in press and video as the brand’s fashion expert.
• Seek opportunities to work with external industry professionals and build sustained relationships; successful outcomes include speaking engagements, exclusives, assets for spreads and features, etc.
• Attend market events related to content categories.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:

• 8+ years of professional experience writing for an online brand or digital publication.
• 5+ years of management experience
• Superb writing and reporting skills, including experience writing for sensitive and high-touch topics.
• A team player who can seamlessly work cross-functionally with little oversight.
• Ability to think strategically in order to make business-first decisions.
• Media trained and intermediate comfortability on camera with necessary prep work and advanced notice
• Proven history of partnering with Visuals on photo shoots and on set styling
• Experience motivating and directing a team of editors and writers to produce their best work on tim in a fast-paced environment
• Strong commitment to hitting deadlines, accuracy and professionalism.
• An understanding of basic SEO best practices and keyword targeting is a plus.
• An instinct for wedding fashion trends, beauty and jewelry content, alongside thought leadership across these categories.
• Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
• Extremely detailed-oriented and calm under pressure
• A passion for pushing creative boundaries and keeping your finger on the pulse, as it relates to the wedding space
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
